Taipei is flooded by rains and a strange disease spreads across the city. One day a plumber comes to a man’s apartment to check the pipes and he drills a hole into the floor that connects the man’s apartment with a woman’s apartment underneath. Two isolated worlds connect and a bizarre (almost) love story by the Taiwanese auteur Tsai Ming-Liang begins.
