Evald Schorm, one of the most distinct representatives of Czech cinema, filmed a tragicomic story inspired by the texts of Josef Škvorecký. This Louis-de-Funès-style story of a fake priest and his persecution by an atheist teacher premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 1969 in the main competition.
