Is It Easy To Be Young?

The Latvian documentary filmmaker created an original, art journalistic portrayal of rebellious teenagers growing up in Soviet society. The film encompasses a vast scale of teenage fates and opinions found between the two poles of their existence: a possibility of vandalism and drug abuse on one side and a civic-minded life approach, conscious of life- and human values on the other. Podnieks refrains from commenting on the fifteen to twenty year-olds’ opinions expressed through survey answers. The whole picture rests on a mosaic-like compilation structure.
