Vagabond

Somewhere in the south of France, a young woman – a vagabond - is found frozen in a ditch. Through flashbacks from her recent past and brief interviews, we piece together a puzzle of her final weeks as she tramps alone. Whether consciously or not, her fellow wayfarers and guides – both men and women – are trying to give her life direction. However, they cannot save her from her tragic end. In the eighties, Agnès Varda, one of the foremost filmmakers of the French La Nouvelle Vague (and herself a rebel against stereotype), directed an unconventional road movie that among other things refers to her own experience with the genre of documentary film.
