SENSES.SK

Marked by the Darkness
A documentary film about the studying methods for blind children in Levoča.
(Štefan Uher, CSR, 1959, 17 min., OV)

Discourse
An informal film about the daily life of a blind intellectual and university assistant, and his mishaps in the world of those who see. The film is framed by a tape recording – an intimate confession of a young man whose loss of eyesight heightened his other senses.
(Otakar Krivánek, CSR, 1963, 21 min., OV)

Silence
A film about a deaf man in his thirties, his possibilities, dreams and revolt. The film’s commentary – the protagonist’s inner voice – is in the form of children’s whispers. The camera, shooting him frontally, uses a certain ironic distance, announcing the aesthetics of the document’s progress.
(Martin Šulík, CSR, 1988, 13 min., OV)

Water and Labour
In Slivka’s film, an old watermill acts as an experimental sound instrument, musical instrument, and sound generator.
(Martin Slivka, CSR, 1963, 9 min., OV)
