Lady in the Lake

A private detective Philip Marlowe who likes to write stories wants to have them published in a book. Instead, a lady editor of a crime magazine hires him to find out where her boss’s wife has disappeared. Marlowe decides to accept the offer but later on changes his mind and wants to drop the case. When he finds out the missing wife could be responsible for the murder of a mysterious “lady in the lake”, he decides to continue investigating. The film adaptation of Raymond Chandler’s crime thriller offers a story told subjectively through the eyes of the main protagonist.
