Clean Hands

Political drama of Andrej Lettrich Clean Hands was created as the illustration of the Stalinist theses about the growing class struggle. In 1956, when it was shown, however, thanks to the condemnation of the Stalinist system, the film received a paradoxically "rebellious" tone of the anti-party, as one might indicate that for all the bad are responsible for communist functionaries and marauders in their ranks can only be made-up. Party and state officials banned the viewing of the film at cinemas, and they issued an order to remove it from a film archive and destroy all copies. Fortunately, the command was not executed; a film about the difficult situation in eastern Slovakia during the establishment of an agricultural cooperative could be premiered in 1968 and can be also introduced as an archive curiosity in program of 4 Elements.
