Petr Krátký: For Karla + Opening of the New Edition of the Other Visions SK Competition

A loop of eight short films by the young Czech artist Petr Krátký combines lightness with a sense of humor. The author acts as the main character and with his presence in front of the camera enlivens seemingly trivial and bizarre situations. 

The opening of this year`s edition of the experimental film contest Other Visions SK will forego the screening. 

Opening of the New Edition of the Other Visions SK Competition 

PAF – Festival of Film Animation and Contemporary Art together with the online film magazine Kinečko and the 4 Elements Film Festival invite authors to enter their audiovisual works into the 3^rd edition of the moving images competition Other Visions SK.

Since 2016 Other Visions SK has been the only project of its kind in Slovakia. It observes the contemporary (professional and amateur) artistic scene in Slovakia and provides space for presenting the most interesting achievements for the past 18 month in the area of experimental film, animation, performance or video art. 10 short-length works are the result of the invited curator’s preferences. This year it is the visual artist, painter and musician András Cséfalvay. Different interests of individuals from the field of audiovisual arts make the selection unique and the visions are every year truly different.

The premiere of Other Visions SK 2018 will take place in December at PAF Olomouc 2018. The audience can look forward to the Slovak premiere and the announcing of the winner at the winter edition of 4 Elements. Afterwards, the selection will be included in various cultural events and as a collective exhibition will be available to visitors of galleries all over Slovakia.

CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION ENTRY:

• it must be possible to screen the work in a screening room and install it in a gallery

• the work cannot be older than 18 months at the time of the open call closing

• the work needs to have independent and non-commercial character

• the work must have been created on the Slovak territory (the author does not need to have Slovak citizenship, the place of the work’s origin is important)

• the length of the work cannot exceed 30 minutes

• professionals and amateurs of all ages can enter their works

• it is possible to enter several works (for each you have to send a separate application form)

• participation in the competition is not limited by the participation in previous editions of the competition (authors can enter repeatedly)
