Elemental Digital Graffiti

4 Elements have been for 20 years organically conjoined with the public space of Banská Štiavnica. We will celebrate this connection with an interactive installation that will allow the 4 Elements visitors as well as casual passers-by to combine elements of graphic identities of previous editions of 4 Elements and right there in the public space create their own temporary installations.

Intermedial artists Pavol Soukal, Štefan Oliš and Lukáš Matejka from the civic association TRAKT decided to realize the project Digital Graffiti because of the need to bring the trends from contemporary visual arts to the general public. The design spray bottles created by 3D printing contain instead of paint a small LED indicator. They are monitored by a discreet camera system, which allows you to make a precise colorful light image. The image is then projected onto the front of a building. The viewer becomes the artist – a creative designer who draws, paints or sprays onto the buildings. Graffiti are without a doubt a part of the color of the urban environment, whether in a positive or a negative form. In case of the Elemental Digital Graffiti, it will be a small celebration of the 20^th anniversary of the festival and at the same time an invitation to the 4^th edition of the Festival of Light and Shadow that the civic association TRAKT organizes in Banská Bystrica during September 21 and 22, 2018.

The Festival of Light and Shadow, this time with the theme Bubble, will present contemporary visual and light art, while combining entertainment with cultural and educational program. Apart from the presentation of Bystrica in a new “light guise”, the event will offer a rich accompanying program that will inspire, educate and entertain the general public.
