Since its premiere at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival the documentary The White World According to Daliborek has been arousing a great deal of controversy. Representatives of the creators of the film will talk at the Slovak prerelease about the dangers of the growing waves of extremism in our geographical area, about authenticity in documentaries, but also about why it is important for as many viewers as possible to see this movie.

Vít Klusák

Vít Klusák is one of the most prominent Czech documentary filmmakers of today. He gained public recognition in 2004 when together with his colleague Filip Remunda he filmed a documentary about a fake supermarket called Czech Dream, followed by similarly distinct films Czech Peace (dir. Vít Klusák, Filip Remunda, 2010) and All for the Good of the World and Nošovice! (2010). In practically all his films, he deals with current topics and does not shy away from controversial ones. He often presents them in the form of portraits of specific figures (tabloid journalist Pavel Novotný, politician Andrej Babiš). He considers the greatest challenge of filming his newest film The White World According to Daliborek to be the struggle not to judge the protagonist and maintain balance between critical attitude and empathy. As he said, he wanted to show with this movie, how modern waves of racism and intolerance are born.

Peter Kerekes

The Slovak documentary filmmaker Peter Kerekes is one of the most productive filmmakers in Slovakia. His movies 66 Seasons (2003) and Cooking History (2008) were distributed in cinemas; he also worked on a documentary Velvet Terrorists (dir. Peter Kerekes, Ivan Ostrochovský, Pavol Pekarčik, 2013) and an anthology film Slovensko 2.0 (2014). He often collaborates on documentary series for RTVS and Czech Television and when choosing topics he focuses on overlaps of the past and the present and legacies of important gures and events. He co-produced the movie The White World According to Daliborek.
