VideoCube 03

VideoCube is an international platform aimed at the presentation of video art and contemporary experiment with technical image created in the context of visual arts, such as videofilm, videperformance, quasi-documentary, reportage, or digital animation, in the conception of Anton Čierny. It focuses mainly on Central European art scene. The collections are compiled by selected renowned curators and visual artists. The first year of VideoCube 01 (2014) was aimed at presenting the people active within the development of video art from the fall of the Iron Curtain until today. The presentation centered around works strongly reacting to the changes in political, economic, and social conditions as well as the challenges they posed. The respective countries were represented by Piotr Bernatowiz (PL): Quo vadis?, Szabolcs KissPál (HU): Wide angle – video as a polyfunctional tool, and Katarína Rusnáková (SK):Slovakia in process: five socio-critical probes into different fields of contemporary society.

VideoCube 02 (2015) situated humans in the centre of various processes and actions, giving rise to some elementary questions such as: Who are we and/or who could we be?(Jiři Ptáček (CZ): The Human Body Temperature, Anton Čierny (SK): Hypertension).

This year’s VideoCube 3 focuses on the search of individual happiness and dignity of mainly younger generations, often both forced and open to breaking stereotypes; they cross borders of foreign countries, tear down political systems, and give up their homes when saving their lives as well as the lives of their families and close friends. The curatorial collections of Pavlína Fichta Čierna (SK): Fog Roof and Oleksiy Radynski (UA): Violent Images are a reaction to the current political and migrant crises.
